USDCAD DAILY CHART – BID AHEAD OF CPI

The only level to watch after today’s CPI release is 1.38 as that will dictate whether the uptrend can make a run at the major 1.3947 level.

On the downside, there us some support at 1.3780-95 but maintains a bid if it stays above 1.3738, stronger if 1.38 become upport.

Question for traders is how much of a tame CPI is already priced in.

USDJPY 4 HOUR CHART – 150 defense

As noted yesterday, 150 was clearly pivotal with potential to see an options defense at this level

It got close (149.97) but subsequent retreat suggest a defense of this level.

Key area is at 148.00-40 with potential support at 148.80-95.

If this bar closes below 1.09000 will continue down – if not we can see at least some Upticks if not a slow turn .

Right now 1.31050 serves as a pivotal : above Bullish , below Bearish.

Probability of the next move is slowly shifting to the Upper side.

Time wise, this wave should be over, and fact that it spent last 4 days in a very narrow range with higher lows every day is signalling an attempt to break Up.

(Reuters) – Citing recent data showing an uptick in inflation and a U.S. economy and labor market that are stronger than previously thought, Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller on Monday called for “more caution” on interest-rate cuts ahead.

“Whatever happens in the near term, my baseline still calls for reducing the policy rate gradually over the next year,” Waller said
